Job Title: Software Engineer (Embedded Systems)

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing team. This
is an exciting opportunity to work on flagship Rolls-Royce programs and play an important role in addressing some of the most complex and interesting technological challenges in Defense.
In this role, will develop, write, test and document embedded software for safety critical electronic engine control and monitoring systems. You may be involved at any stage of a project life-cycle from concept development, integrated/component testing, through final production
release. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical challenges in a stimulating and collaborative environment

What you will be doing
With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:
- Collaborate with other systems teams and customers to fully capture and synthesize software requirements for high integrity embedded systems.
- Help architect, design, develop software products through testing, diagnosing, and verification throughout the entirety of the product lifecycle. Support the execution of software development activities and ensure the delivery of a compliant sub-system level solution for programs including hardware/software and software/software component testing.
- Work with a team of engineers with cross-functional skills to ensure all sub-system program objectives/deliverables are met including accountability for Schedule, Cost, Quality and Compliance. Plan and manage software development activities using agile methodologies.
- Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in the project plan) and escalated in accordance with the risk management plan.
- Compile functional descriptions, design assurance, and test results into reports sufficient for certifying authorities, customer deliverables, and gate reviews.
- Design for functional safety and security. Experience with embedded safety critical software for aerospace to meet civil or military qualification objectives.

Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2+ years of software engineering experience, OR
- Master’s degree in STEM, OR
- PhD in degree in STEM
- To be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen. Have to be able to obtain a top-secret clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience analysing and translating high level requirements into software systems and components. Doors or Cameo experience.
- Experience with customer interactions and successful capture of externally funded programs that facilitate trade studies, research and technology development, and system architecture design as applicable to embedded control systems.
- Proficiency using 'C', Simulink, Assembly, Python. Familiarity with model-based software design and simulation; control system experience. Experience with RUST programming language.
- Experience with safety critical control systems (DAL A-C), high integrity control solutions, the interaction between security and safety, aerospace certification & qualification standards and their application for electronics is highly desirable, including but not limited to standards such as RTCA / DO (Aerospace) and applicable Mil-STDs with basic knowledge of US Export Control regulations applicable to these components.
